Parent Child Center Open

The Parent Child Center is open Monday-Friday, operating from 7:30am to 5:30pm. Shoreline Community College is a fully vaccinated campus and parents/guardian are no longer required to complete the health screening form upon arrival. For more information about Shoreline's vaccination requirements, please visit our COVID-19 Updates page.

The Parent Child Center (PCC) is the home of Shoreline’s youngest learners. The PCC is a licensed childcare facility and early-learning lab located on the campus of Shoreline Community College. We participate in WA State's Early Achievers program and serve Shoreline Community College students, employees and community members.

Student parents

The PCC prioritizes enrolling the children of students at Shoreline Community College.

Shoreline students enrolled in at least 6 credits receive a discounted rate subsidized by the Shoreline Community College Associated Student Government. The Center also accepts Washington State Child Care subsidies for Shoreline students, faculty, and staff only.

In general, many college students have dependent children and the largest share of student parents attend community colleges. Many are low-income, working and going to school full-time while raising children.

Childcare is a crucial to helping student parents be successful in earning their postsecondary credentials. Shoreline Community College is committed to providing support to student parents in meeting their academic goals.

A lab school

The PCC provides college students who are studying early childhood education (ECE) with relevant observation and practicum experiences. ECE Students have the opportunity to observe and work with young children. The PCC serves as a model for early learning and education for young children and their families. Children benefit from having the extra attention from Shoreline students. The Practicum students are considered “learners” in the classroom and are not included in the child-teacher ratio and they are always supervised by paid teaching staff.
