Vaccination Verification

In-person or on-campus students coming to the College for classes and/or ANY activities during Summer Quarter are required to attest their vaccination status or claim a valid medical or religious exemption. General Information

Vaccinations & Testing

Students Coming to Campus

Students attending classes in-person or students who visit Shoreline's campus for ANY activity are required to complete a vaccination attestation to record which COVID-19 vaccination they received and the dosage dates (or they may claim an eligible exemption). Please note that any activity or service sought in person would necessitate this requirement.

New students participating in hybrid or in-person courses or services who do not submit an attestation, or have an approved exemption by July 6, 2022, will have a registration hold applied to their records.

Students do not need to upload or show any documents, but they will declare that the information provided is accurate and true. The College may require further verification of vaccination and providing false statements for the purpose of attestation or exemptions may result in disciplinary action.

Verify your vaccination status or attest an exemption

Online Students

Fully online students who will not enter the campus are not required to attest their vaccination status or submit an exemption.

Health Occupation Students

All students in health occupation programs are required to be vaccinated for COVID-19, including Nursing, Nursing Assistant Certified, Dental Hygiene, and Medical Laboratory Technology. Students who have clinical rotations must follow the vaccination requirements of the health care institution where they will be working. The Vaccine Mandate Proclamation (Proclamation 21-14.1) requires health care workers at all institutions to show proof of vaccination by July 6, 2022 or to have attested a medical or religious exemption.

Students in these programs must submit their vaccination verification to the College and contact their program coordinator for additional verification instructions.

For more information, please contact Mary Burroughs at mburroughs@shoreline.edu.

Running Start Students

Running Start students are considered college students so they are required to follow the same rules as any other Shoreline students. The College requires students to be vaccinated and attest their vaccination status within ctcLink if they plan to attend classes in person or visit campus for any activity, or they may attest a medical or religious exemption.

Visitors & Prospective Students

Visitors and prospective students coming to campus are not required to provide vaccination information. As of April 2, 2022, visitors will no longer be required to wear a mask indoors. Should visitors choose to wear one and need a mask, masks will be available at ASK ME stations in the 1000, 4000, and 5000 buildings. See the campus map

Student Employees

If you are a student who is employed by the College, please complete both the student vaccination attestation form as well as the employee vaccination attestation form. The employee form can be found on the Faculty & Staff COVID-19 Updates page, which provides additional information regarding vaccine requirements and exemptions. For any questions, please reach out to your supervisor.

Questions about student vaccinations? Contact the Office of Students, Equity & Success at vp-ses@shoreline.edu.

The College will accept all U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and World Health Organization (WHO) approved vaccinations at the number and timing recommended by the manufacturer. This currently includes:

  • Johnson & Johnson/Janssen

  • Moderna

  • Pfizer-BioNTech

  • Oxford/AstraZeneca
  • Serum Institute of India: Covishield
  • Sinopharm (Beijing): BBIBP-CorV
  • Sinovac: CoronaVac

Non-FDA or WHO Approved Vaccines

Students who have received vaccines in other countries that are not approved by the FDA or WHO (or who have received only the first shot of an approved vaccine) will be required to be re-vaccinated in the United States by July 6, 2022 or attest to an eligible exemption. The Centers for Disease Prevention & Control (CDC) has not identified increased risks for re-vaccination with a U.S. FDA-approved vaccine.

If you are an international student, please contact International Education at international@shoreline.edu for next steps.

Natural Immunity Does Not Count

If a student contracted COVID-19 and recovered, they are not considered vaccinated. The CDC recommends vaccination even for those who have had COVID-19 because it is not known how long any immunity lasts.

Exemptions

Students who choose to not be vaccinated for medical or religious reasons will be required to complete an online form to attest to their exemption status on or before July 6, 2022. Students will receive a response within 1-2 business days and will be notified through their college email.

Please note, philosophical/personal exemptions will not be accepted by the College per Governor Inslee’s Proclamation 20-12.5.

Students that submit a medical exemption will be required to provide verification of their need for a reasonable modification from the vaccine requirement, dated and signed by a medical provider. The validation of this documentation will be conducted one-on-one with the Student Accessibility Services (SAS) Program Specialist online. An email will be sent to your preferred email address providing further instruction and dates for online validation. Students who do not submit their verifying documents by July 6, 2022 will have a registration hold applied to their records.

Vaccine sites continue to operate in the Shoreline area for people ages 5 and up still needing to initiate or complete a vaccine series or receive a booster. Schedule an appointment for your free vaccine at:

If you need a ride to your vaccination appointment, visit Find A Ride or call the Transportation Resources Line at 425-943-6760 (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Dial 5 for interpretation).

Contact your Healthcare Provider. There should be no cost for testing, but verify that with your provider beforehand.

  • At-Home Tests - Washington state residents can order free tests while supplies last. The federal government is offering every home in the U.S. four free at-home COVID-19 tests. Every home in the U.S. will be able to order an additional set of 4 tests.

The College respects that students and employees have a right to keep their vaccination information private.

Access to Vaccination Data

All vaccination verification data will be self-entered by students and employees onto a secure online form. The College will not collect or store any documents or proof of verification from any individuals.

Asking Others About Their Vaccination Status

It is not appropriate, nor necessary to maintain a safe campus, for individuals to ask any student or employee on campus if they have been vaccinated. Faculty and staff will not be able to tell which students have been vaccinated.

If you are having symptoms or have been exposed and have been on campus, please fill out the exposure reporting form. This is a confidential report for contact tracing purposes.

Faculty, staff, and students will be able to travel domestically for conferences, professional development, and other business needs, as budgets allow. Follow CDC guidelines on domestic travel. International travel will be subject to review on a case-by-case basis, informed by CDC requirements and recommendations.

Coming to Campus - Students, Visitors, and Facility Renters

Update to Mask Requirement

Masks are voluntary (indoor and outdoor) except in healthcare settings, including the Counseling Center and clinical sites. The College also recommends respiratory etiquette. Please note that the College’s masking decision may change in the future, should conditions change.

All Students, Visitors, and Facility Renters

All students, visitors, and facility renters must do the following when coming to campus:

  • Follow instructions from Shoreline faculty and staff
  • Masks are voluntary indoors and outdoors except in healthcare settings, including the Counseling Center and clinical sites
  • Follow any specific class safety practices communicated at the start of the quarter
  • Stay home if you are feeling sick with any symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea

Anyone who is sick and showing symptoms of COVID, without another known cause, should fill out a College COVID-19 Exposure Report form. The College will follow-up and will provide guidance to the sick person on what to do next.

Eating, waiting, or studying on campus

Students on campus should use the Library/4000 Building if they would like a location in which to eat, wait, or study on campus. The PUB (Student Union 9000 Building) is also open.

Non-Vaccinated Students or Employees

Non-vaccinated students or employees will be allowed on campus only if they have claimed an eligible vaccination exemption.

Parents of children at the Parent Child Center (PCC)

Parents of children at the PCC are not required to be vaccinated or to verify vaccination status. The College strongly encourages parents to be vaccinated. Parents who are College employees and/or students are required to be vaccinated or have a valid exemption.

Parking

Campus parking is free for all students and visitors through the end of Fall Quarter 2022. Parking permits will be required beginning Winter Quarter 2023.

For questions about campus access or personal protective equipment (PPE), please email covidsupervisor@shoreline.edu or call (206) 546-7651.

Services will be available on campus and online providing service during these operating hours.

Masks are voluntary (indoor and outdoor) except in healthcare settings, including the Counseling Center and clinical sites. Please note that the College’s masking decision may change in the future, should conditions change.

The College also recommends respiratory etiquette including washing your hands after coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose.  Washing your hands is the most effective protective measure against spreading germs as soap has special properties that break up the virus effectively. If you are unable to wash your hands frequently, use hand sanitizer before and after touching surfaces.

Use of well-fitting masks may be temporarily required or recommended by the College (e.g., days 6-10 if returning to work from isolation after day 5, during a COVID-19 outbreak, when community levels are high, etc.).

Individual staff members or instructors cannot require others to mask in their departments or classrooms.

KN-95 and surgical masks are available at the ASK ME stations (Admin/1000 Building, Library/4000 Building, and FOSS/5000 Building, 2nd floor) for anyone who wishes to wear a mask. If you voluntarily choose to mask up, choose a well-fitted, high-quality mask - such as a KN95, N95, or surgical mask - which when worn correctly can protect you as well as those around you. Follow CDC guidelines on the types of masks and how to wear them.

Individuals who are immunocompromised or live with someone who is at risk for severe COVID-19 should consider wearing well-fitting masks when community levels are medium or higher, per the Washington State Department of Health.

Vaccination verification or eligible exemption status will continue to be required for all employees and on-campus students.

Cleaning Campus Facilities

The College cleans surfaces in areas that it has mandated to be in use, such as core student service areas, admin exempt employee offices, as well as public facilities such as bathrooms, on a daily basis. The College follows CDC cleaning guidelines, which state that cleaning high touch surfaces with soap or detergent daily is sufficient to reduce the relatively low transmission risk of COVID-19 via surfaces.

In situations where there has been a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 indoors within the last 24 hours, the presence of an infectious virus on surfaces is more likely and therefore high-touch surfaces in the immediate area should be disinfected using disinfectants on the U.S. EPA Environment Protection Agency list. The risk of transmission via surfaces can be reduced by practicing good hand hygiene.

HVAC Air Filtration

All campus buildings have been outfitted with MERV 13 air filters, which are capable of filtering the COVID-19 virus. Filters are monitored, maintained, and/or replaced on a quarterly basis. All buildings and HVAC systems were designed by architects and mechanical engineers trained to meet or exceed current air ventilation codes/regulations. All HVAC systems have been inspected and approved for use and meet all current codes/regulations.

Showing Symptoms

Anyone who is sick and showing symptoms of COVID, without another known cause, should fill out a College COVID-19 Exposure Report form. The College will follow-up and will provide guidance to the sick person on what to do next.

Laptop Pick-Up and Return

Laptop pick-up and return is available through the Library (4000 Building).

Items previously available through Curbside are now available through the relevant department.

1. As much as possible, keep a routine - wake up, go to sleep, and perform daily activities at consistent times throughout your week.

2. Eat, sleep, and exercise – even if you don’t feel like it.

3. Acknowledge and accept your feelings and thoughts – sadness, grief, anger, and fear are normal reactions.

4. Talk to friends and family about how you are feeling or thinking.

5. Do something you enjoy.

6. Seek trusted sources of information but avoid information overload. Think critically as you follow news reports and verify information you receive from social media or loved ones.

7. Connect with others keeping safety and individual comfort levels in mind

8. Do what makes you feel calmer: breathing, sitting in a quiet space, reading, meditating, listening to music, journaling, going for a walk.

9. Practice self-compassion, being kind and compassionate to yourself, much like you would for a friend a family member.

10. Understand what you can, and cannot, control. You can control your attitude, your own kindness and grace, and your behavior. You cannot control the actions of others, predicting what will happen, or how long this will last.

11. Seek additional help. Individuals who feel an overwhelming nervousness, a lingering sadness, or other prolonged reactions that adversely affect their job, school studies, or relationships should consult with a trained and experienced mental health professional.
